What is holding you and your horse back? Is it frustrating you or even making you angry with yourself!
Do you go to tack up or go to get on and just feel you can't do it? Or once your on you shake like a leaf, feel panicky, terrified or sick?
Or do you have the continual feeling/fear that you are going to be out of control?
Or every time you get on you are constantly waiting for the what if's?
As horse owners/riders we don't want to feel like this we just want to be able to get on enjoy the moment and ride.
Many horse riders are aware how their current feelings/thoughts are affecting their horses on a day to day basis when they ride their horses but do you know our horses also pick up on our past trauma when we are riding them.
Don't be stupid I hear you cry but it is true I would say about 90% of my client sessions will always take us back to a past trauma as well as a fall/riding accident etc that needs to be cleared before the riding issues will improve.
Perhaps you're thinking that this doesn't apply to you. Maybe it doesn't, but I'm guessing it does.
Perhaps you think that you haven't experienced anything painful enough to qualify as "trauma," but I'm guessing you have.
Here's why: Many people think of trauma as being only dramatically upsetting and damaging experiences like abuse, serious riding accidents, violent crime, and the like.
But the truth is, according to Webster's dictionary anyway, trauma is simply "an emotional upset."
What I love about EFT/Tapping is it's simplicity it is a mind-body method of tapping acupuncture points (acupoints) on the hands, face, and body with your fingertips while focusing on an issue or feeling you're hoping to resolve.
So why does it work? We've recently learned that it all has to do with an almond shaped part of your brain called the amygdala.
The amygdala manages your body's stress response and as such is responsible for your "fight or flight" reactions to anything that scares or threatens you. It alerts you to potential danger so you can respond accordingly. This is a good thing.
Here's the catch: the amygdala cannot tell the difference between the real and the perceived danger. And for those of us who have experienced some kind of emotional or physical trauma i.e. had a fall, been bolted with, been bucked off, had a rotational fall, horse landing on you etc etc the occurrence of something even slightly similar to what we encountered before can set our amygdala's alarm bells ringing! The result? A flood of cortisol - commonly known as the "stress hormone" as it's secreted by our body when stressed - into our nervous system that sets us on edge and can produce a whole variety of symptoms.
So what does tapping have to do with the amygdala?
Studies done at no less than Harvard Medical School during the last decade found that the stress and fear responses generated by the amygdala could be lessened by stimulating the body's meridian points as outlined in Chinese Traditional Medicine and as used in acupuncture and acupressure.
And as you have seen, they're also the points we use in tapping.
Now although these studies focused on acupuncture and as such used needles, follow-up double blind research revealed that stimulating the points through pressure as we do in tapping, gave rise to a similar response!
Another exciting set of research was undertaken by Dr Dawson Church. His team performed a randomized controlled trial to study how an hour long tapping session would impact the stress levels of 83 subjects. To do this Dr Church and his team measured their level of cortisol. Their findings? The average level of cortisol reduction was 24% with a whopping reduction of almost 50% in some subjects! In comparison, there was no significant cortisol reduction in those who underwent an hour of traditional talk therapy.
This is but a fraction of some of the eye-opening research being done on tapping and with each new study we come closer to the widespread acceptance of tapping as perhaps the most adaptable and accessible healing modality available to us. Just as acupuncture was once dismissed as a hokey backwards remedy before it became respected, any lingering doubts about tapping will be forgotten as more studies such as this are performed.
Medical research is continually teaching us how and why emotional stress/feelings manifest as psychological and physical damages, as well as the benefits of ancient principles found in Chinese Traditional Medicine which are still used in acupuncture and acupressure today. EFT Tapping is a healing therapy that you can actually apply yourself. You don't necessary have to have training and you certainly don't need any tools, all you need is yourself and your emotions.
Your emotions are entry points into the core of whatever ails/stops you. By burrowing deeper into how you feel, you're able to discover and unlock whatever is holding you back, it seems a little unreal but in the 20 years I have been involved with holistic health this has been proven to me time and time again.
If you can deal with your feelings first, everything else can follow afterwards. If you can locate the emotional source of your feelings you can........
Feel confident to hack again, feel confident to jump again, feel like you are in control riding again, stop feeling terrified, stop feeling shakey, start to feel positive have more confidence with no more what if's!
The list goes on and on and my customers testimonials speak volumes about how successful this therapy is.
Perhaps best of all, this revolutionary, life-changing technique is easy and quick to learn and apply. What you receive far eclipse's the work you put in.
In my Introductory EFT for riders download it will show you how you can try this technique for yourself. I've also shared testimonial stories of other riders whose lives have been changed by having an EFT/ Tapping session with me.
The other great thing about EFT is you can use it to remove any negative thing that is troubling you for example losing extra pounds that no diet or workout have been able to shed, earn the money and abundance that you want and deserve, heal troubled relationships, learn how to have a less stressful work-life, even help eliminate everything from headaches to chronic back pain.
Tapping is nothing less than miraculous and while that may seem like an extreme thing to say, every day we are learning more and more about just why it works as well as it does.
